N238JG is a standard Cirrus SR22 G3 with options selected primarily for use in it's future home base, Seletar (WSSL) Singapore. Many of the featured on the SR22 GTS model (such as XM Satellite Radio) are not useable in SE Asia and therefore I tailored the selected options to those that would be of use to me on the delivery trip and during future use in SE Asia / Australasia:
| Dual Garmin GNS 430W | - Nav / Com / GPS receivers with WAAS capability |
| S-TEC 55X | - Autopilot |
| Stormscope | - Lightning Storm Detection System |
| Skywatch | - Detection of other aircraft transponders / collision avoidance |
| E-Max | - Electronic Charts and Approach Plates |
| C-Max | - Engine Monitoring System |
| Platinum Engine | - Higher manufacturing tolerance / specification engine |
| Flight Director | - Visual display on the Primary Flight Display to aid hand flying |
| 406MHz ELT Built-in Oxygen System Tinted Windows |
- Emergency locator beacon / transponder |
| External Colour | - Monza Red (See Picture) |
| Internal Colour | - Sand & Onyx |
Standard SR22 features included on N238JG include:
Composite airframe construction
Avidyne Entegra "Glass Cockpit" instrumentation
Primary Flight Display (PFD)
Multi-Function Display (MFD)
CAPS Whole Aircraft Parachute System
Airbag Seatbelts
92 US Gallon Fuel Tank
I decided that there were three items of equipment I wished to have on N238JG that were not offered by Cirrus either as part of the standard SR22 package, or as options:
| Iridium 9505A Satellite Phone | - instead of HF radio |
| Garmin MD200-306 CDI | - Instrument Approach capability in case of PDF failure |
| SR22 Avionics Fan Upgrade | - to improve avionics cooling and extend the life and reliability of equipment |
These three items I contracted Lancaster Avionics in Pennsylvania USA (a certified Cirrus service centre) to fit to N238 JG, and I planned to deliver the aircraft to them in Lancaster a couple of days after I took delivery. The installation was scheduled to take two weeks.
